LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Officers with the Lynchburg Police Department have received multiple reports of identity theft.

According to the department, scammers have been using stolen identities to file unemployment claims for residents of Virginia and other states.

Police say that if you’re in Virginia and have been a victim of this type of fraud, click here or call 1-800-782-4001.

Lynchburg residents who have also been a victim of unemployment insurance fraud, should also file a report with the Lynchburg Police Information Desk at (434) 455-6041.

Lynchburg police are actively investigating these incidents.
