Unemployment: 1099 form recall leads VT to offer ID theft protection

On Feb. 1, Vermont’s Department of Labor announced a recall of all 1099-G forms sent to Vermonters after reports many of the forms were sent with incorrect names and addresses. In certain instances, people had received forms with another person’s Social Security number.

The department believes the mishap pertained to forms related to the Lost Wages Assistance program and a portion of those who received the Vermont Short Term Supplemental benefit.

The identify theft protection is expected to provide Vermonters with the ability to monitor risks to their credit card accounts and personal information.

For more information on IDX’s services, including instructions on how to activate your complimentary membership services, Vermonters can call 833-726-0943.

Instances of identity theft can additionally be reported to the Federal Trade Commission by calling (877) 438-4338.
