Pima County Housing Center to host home ownership fair

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Always wanted to own your own home, but aren’t quite sure where to start?  Then the upcoming homeownership fair happening this weekend is just the place to begin.

The Pima County Housing Center will be working with the U.S. Department of House and Urban Development (HUD) to host the fair on Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 801 West Congress Street in the Menlo Park Neighborhood.  

Participants in the fair will be able to meet with housing experts and learn information on buying and keeping an affordable, sustainable, quality home. 

Sponsors of the event include: Community Investment Corporation, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Apex Real Estate Network, Guild Mortgage, Chase, Loan Depot, National Bank of Arizona, Nova Home Loans and Real Pros Real Estate

The event offers workshops on the following: budgeting, credit repair and down payment assistance; resources for current homeowners and new homebuyers and a chance to meet with HUD-certified counselors, credit experts, Realtors, mortgage lenders and housing professionals from non-profit agencies. 

Fair goers will also be able to get do-it-yourself advice and energy saving tips from expert Lowe’s Home Improvement and Tucson Electric Power.

This is a family friendly event, with kids meeting Pima County’s McGruff the Crime Dog and Tucson Water’s Pete the Beak. Parents may enter a draw for prizes provided by exhibitors including Freddie Mac, and Southwest Fair Housing Council.

Refreshments will be available. Admission to the housing fair is free, and parking will be available at the Pima County Housing Center and across the street.
